Facebook Post to Lake Harding

LHA Facebook Post Dec2018

Dear Neighbor
Our Lake Harding Community is a strong force advocating for positive change on this Southern
Company owned property. Whether you lease your lot or own it through deed, the water and land
activities probably concern you. Lake Harding has approximately 1800 residential lots with 1300 in
Alabama and 500 in Georgia. All of you are represented.
Years ago, residents banded together forming the Lake Harding Leaseholders Association Inc.. Now
referred to as “The Lake Harding Association”, it has taken on numerous roles. Through formal bylaws
the members maintain a Board Of Directors who voluntarily serve to represent you. Your concerns,
requests and support drive the Board’s activities. Listed below are many of our current endeavors.
Financial Support to:
● Antioch Volunteer Fire Department (Georgia)
● Beulah Fire District (Alabama)
● the “Cross” (Alabama)
● Chattahoochee River Conservancy
● Wake for Warriors for Disabled Vets
● Annual Poker Run for American Cancer Society
● Boat Parades and after parties (Christmas and others coming in 2019)
● Supply committed residents with chemical testing kits for monthly water quality
sampling/reporting.
Rumble on the River Fireworks show every July 3rd.
Community signage going up on both sides in 2019.

Annual LHA General Membership Meeting, hosted dinner by Georgia Power in spring.
Annual LHA BBQ every fall. (Docks and 219 Food & Spirits)
The LHA Georgia Power Committee interacts regularly with GPC Management regarding important
concerns of all Leaseholders. Those efforts include invasive weed (hydrilla) control, lake/shoreline
improvements, building permit considerations/restrictions, trash and hazardous obstacle removal, very
high lease transfer fees, and land tax diversion to leaseholders at commercial versus residential rates.
These efforts really need solidarity to present a strong voice.
To accomplish all these activities we need your support and participation. The Lake Harding Association
current membership is 484 or 26%. We’re asking all of you to join or renew your membership. At $25
annual dues (and $50 one-time processing fee) this remains a very good value. Please join us in
conserving this wonderful recreational environment. Visit us at LakeHarding.com/Association
Happy Holidays!
