2022 Drawdown
Communication received from Georgia Power 10/1/2022
Dear Lake Resident:
Due to operational needs at the dam, we realized there will be challenges for our normal drawdown time frame this year and the next few years. We evaluated drawdown options at Lake Harding and we decided to schedule a slightly shorter drawdown in 2022.
The reservoir will start down Sunday, October 9th and is estimated to reach the drawdown bottom elevation of 516’ on/around Friday, October 14th. The lake refill will begin on Saturday, October 29th and reach full pool based on inflows.
During the drawdown, fluctuations may occur daily due to generation, rainfall, or other factors. Equipment and materials should not be left in the lakebed unattended. Lake residents are encouraged to secure their boats during the drawdown.
Before the start of any work along the shoreline, plans must be submitted to Georgia Power Company for review and approval prior to construction of new structures or for maintenance of existing structures. Also, residents planning to build a new seawall need to complete a Buffer Disturbance Request form that must be approved by your local county issuing authority before a permit will be issued by Georgia Power.
